Former Sekhkhune United midfielder Yusuf Maart is set to be a key player for Arthur Zwane’s reinforced Kaizer Chiefs side.

Maart impressed during the 2021/22 season earning an international debut and attracting interest from Kaizer Chiefs.

Babina Noko’s assistant coach Thabo Senong believes that Maart will be a big star at Kaizer Chiefs.

The qualities that will make Yusuf Maart a Kaizer Chiefs star

Senong knows all about Maart’s abilities and rates the playmaker highly.

“With the evolution of the game if you look at his qualities as a footballer, he covers a lot of ground and distance on the pitch because of his high anaerobic capacity,” Senong told Soccer Laduma.

“Yusuf takes a lot of shots from outside the box, he can make a lot of forward passes, over the top, so he helps the team to defend very well because he works very hard in the defensive and attacking phase.

“So I don’t see Yusuf failing at Chiefs and I’m hoping he adapts and shine as soon as possible. He is very committed as he gives 110 percent at training and in matches, also he does a lot of individual analytical work, and gets clips of himself after matches and training so that he can always analyse himself critically and try to improve some areas and aspects of his game where he lacks.

“So by Maart being an adapter, I don’t see him struggling to adjust to playing within the Kaizer Chiefs group and also play for a big club of Chiefs’ calibre because of his mentality, he is a professional, works very hard and he is an international midfielder, he comes from Bafana Bafana,” concluded Senong.

Kaizer Chiefs will get their domestic season underway in earnest on 6 August but are expected to have a busy pre-season as well.
