Xola Mlambo has revealed reasons why he wasn’t bothered after being released by AmaZulu at the end of last season.

Mlambo found his name among Usuthu’s departures as the club was in the process of a squad overhaul.

Normally, footballers can be distressed when learning that they’ve lost their jobs, however, it was the opposite feeling for the former Orlando Pirates man.

MLAMBO OPENS UP ON LEAVING AMAZULU

Speaking at Marawa Sports Worldwide, Mlambo said he was grateful that the club decided to let him go but was also sad to discover that coach Brandon Truter would’ve liked him to stay.

“Talking and listening to the coach that I was working with, Truter, it’s sad enough that he was hoping to work with me,” Mlambo said.

“He brought the names forward, those were his words to me when we had a conversation that, ‘I still wanted to work with you, I gave them your name’ but it was not meant to be.

“A part of me didn’t care who was saying what.” Asked if he had had enough at the club, he replied, “I definitely and people that are close to me knew what was happening.

“And other things are best unsaid cause look at [Augustine] Mulenga’s situation, it really pained me to see him going through what he was going through because we stayed in the same complex, we spent most of our time together.

“When you hear and see certain things happening, it hits hard to a person that was close to you.

“Whatever has been said, whatever Mulenga said or whatever has been misquoted but we know the depth of it and what transpired and the fact that they released him while he was still in a recovering state.

“It’s really sad, I mean I’m a footballer when I saw that situation and I put myself in the shoes, what if that was me because this person is a brother to me.

“If something like this happens to him and that doesn’t touch me, that means something is wrong with me. But a lot has happened, we learn everyday, we make peace, we grow and we become stronger with the challenges that we face and deal with.”

The 32-year-old played 30 games and scored one goal across all competitions for the Durban-based club in the past campaign.

For a well-versed midfielder like Mlambo, it wouldn’t be that difficult to find a new place to call home as TS Galaxy offered him a contract straight away.

EXCITED’ TO WORK WITH RAMOVIC

Better known as ‘Ten Ten’, the former Bidvest Wits maestro also expressed his delight to work under the head coach of The Rockets in Sead Ramovic.

He says attending training alone excites him because the German mentor allows players to express themselves and the environment is conducive.

“Ever since I started working with the technical team, you wake up, you’re excited to go to the training field, you get home, you’re happy that you were at training, you know that type of an environment that is fruitful to be in and around” Mlambo added.

“He [Ramovic] is a coach that loves hard work but a coach that believes that players should express themselves. A coach that wants players to enjoy doing what they’re doing, a coach that wants to have a legacy with TS Galaxy.

“And I think we’re joining this team in a better state of mind, with experience, with enthusiasm and maturity.”
