Black Leopards seek to build on their win over Stellenbosch as they visit Bidvest Wits on Thursday at Bidvest Stadium.

Lidoda Duvha suspended head coach Cavin Johnson ahead of the clash with Stellenbosch with Soccer Laduma reporting that he was permanently relieved of his duties. With the club in turmoil, new boss Allan Clark delivered a vital victory.

Mwape Musonda’s penalty put Leopards ahead, but a late Ryan Moon equaliser appeared to have denied the hosts two points at Thohoyandou Stadium. Then came a sweet strike from Thabo Matlaba to seal all three points.

Leopards tend to perform better in front of their home fans than on the road. This is a trend which needs to be halted when they face title-chasing Wits.

The Clever Boys have lost their last three matches including two in the CAF Confederation Cup, but made a notable signing in Lorenzo Gordinho from Kaizer Chiefs.

With the Confederation Cup out of the way, Wits can set their sights on reeling in Amakhosi, who they currently trail by 15 points with five games in hand.

“We could look at it both ways. There could be an advantage [for Wits],” Gordinho was quoted as saying by KickOff.

“You could say we have games in hand you know but on the other hand, yes, you could say we still have to get points in those games.

“So we as a team, we have to be sure and have everything in plan to get every single point in every game.”

Kick-off time and prediction

Kick-off time: 6 February, 19:30

Prediction: Leopards have won just one out of nine away league games this season, so Wits are likely to claim three points.
