The DStv Premiership can be unpredictable, just ask Orlando Pirates fans after this weekend’s 1-0 loss to TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium.

A wonderful solo run from the former Kaizer Chiefs star Puso Dithejane laid assist for Sphiwe Mahlangu to score the 69th minute winner. The defeat left for Orlando Pirates left supporters unsure of the CAF Champions League dream next season. Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC, despite losing 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns at the Athlone Stadium, remain in second spot with 50 points, while the Sea Robbers are third with 49 points and one game remaining against SuperSport United in Soweto on Saturday.

According to Pule, Orlando Pirates simply lacked intensity and urgency to grab a win.

“It was a very difficult match, I think our level of intensity in the first half was a bit slow, and that went into the second half as well,” Pule said as quoted by the Citizen.

“I think later we tried to push for a goal but it didn’t happen. We must keep our heads high, there is still a lot to play for. It all goes to the last game, it is a must-win game for us …. playing at home will help us a lot,” the Qwa-Qwa-born star added.

Meanwhile, Pule’s coach Jose Riveiro felt that his players did not apply the required winning attitude.

“I think we were not good enough to deserve better results, the better results could happen because we had chances, territorially I think we dominated the game but not playing the game that we wanted to play and we allowed the opponents to play to their strength,” Riveiro said in SuperSport TV, as quoted by FARPost.

“And I also think our attitude today was not good enough, if you see the match during the 90 minutes, I think Galaxy was playing for something more important than us.

“The attitude can not only be when you are losing, we need to be brave with better determination like you have nothing to lose. I am ready to lose games, but not because the team that is in front of you is putting more attitude and fighting more.

“It must be a football discussion, not an attitude discussion and I think today, for the biggest time of the 90 minutes, we were not at the level that the game was asking,” the Orlando Pirates tactician concluded.
