On Monday, the five suspects linked with the murder of Meyiwa on 26 October 2014 appeared at the Palm Bridge High Court for pre-trial proceedings.
And on the day, the trial date was set for Friday, 11 April 2022.

It’s exactly seven years since Meyiwa was gunned down at singer Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus.
The two – Meyiwa and Khumalo – were in a romantic relationship at the time of the goalkeeper’s passing in 2014.
A number of arrests have been made since then but the police haven’t been able to fully crack the case as they have struggled to get solid evidence in their investigation.

However, with the five suspects detained since October 2020, the family of the slain goalkeeper could finally get to see justice.
Sadly, Meyiwa’s father Samuel passed away in July 2019 without getting any answers regarding his son’s death.

The five suspects are:
Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya (35), Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi (30), Mthobisi Mncube (37) – who is believed to be the alleged shooter – along with Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa (36) and Sifokuhle Sifiso “Nkani” Ntuli (35).
