Pitso Mokoena says Teboho Mokoena should go abroad and not stay another season at Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 59-year-old mentor believes the midfielder has won everything locally and it’s time for him to move to Europe.

Ever since impressing at the Africa Cup of Nations, the 28-year-old ‘Downs midfield maestro has been linked with a move away from Chloorkop.

Mokoena himself said his dream is to play in Europe.

“Well, I think Teboho [Mokoena] has done it all locally [winning trophies],” Pitso Mokoena told FARPost.

“I think it’s high time for him to move and go face new challenges somewhere else.

“When are they going to release him? Are we going to wait for the [Mamelodi] Sundowns contract to expire then he can be released? I’m asking.

“Won’t it be late at that time? I’m asking; I’m not sure. For me, whilst he is still at his peak, he should be allowed to go.”

Although Pitso believes Mokoena can still play in Europe, former Black Leopards coach Dylan Kerr says he might be too old.

Speaking to GOAL, the English coach said Mokoena (27) and Williams (32) should have left for Europe five years ago.

”No disrespect to Ronwen [Williams], Teboho [Mokoena], and others, but I think they are too old now for Europe. They are supposed to have moved at an early age, below 25,” Kerr told GOAL

”Williams and some other PSL players are top quality but it’s a little bit late for them to move abroad.”

Pitso believes Mokoena is at his peak and might be the only chance he will get to play at the highest level. Egyptian giants Al Ahly were said to be interested in the Bafana Bafana top player.
