Before the match Sundowns co-coach Rhulani Mokwena warned that Orlando Pirates would have to work hard to beat the league leaders.

The sides traded early opportunities but it wouldn’t be until the 51st minute that the deadlock was broken with Zwane applying the finish.

Sundowns got an insurance policy just ten minutes later when Pavol Safranko buried a chance to repay the faith shown in him by team management.

That goal allowed Sundowns to take control of the game and there was blood in the water when Safranko doubled his tally in the 71st minute of the match.

Peter Shalulile got in on the act with his 13th goal of the DStv Premiership, which puts him in prime position to go on to claim the golden boot.
