SuperSport United winger Sipho Mbule has shown why he has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Mbule scored a stunning goal to put SuperSport United ahead against basement boys Black Leopards.

The in-demand attacking player collected a pass on the edge of the area before showing neat footwork to get beyond his marker before firing a rocket beyond Jonas Mendes in the Leopards goal.

SuperSport’s lead lasted just ten minutes before Ovidy Karuru levelled matters for Lidoda Duvha and the two first-half goals would not be added to as the teams shared the points.

Kaizer Chiefs battling Sundowns for Mbule’s signature

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be battling Mamelodi Sundowns for the versatile midfielder, some sources have reported that the Brazilians have already secured Mbule with a pre-contract.

Mbule has blossomed at SuperSport United this season with Kaitano Tembo using the 23-year-old more often after the departure of Bafana Bafana midfielder Dean Furman.

A SuperSport United insider said last month that whichever club wants to sign Mbule will need to stump up some serious cash.

“We will do what we did to Sundowns when they first wanted Aubrey Modiba. If they are serious, they will need to put serious money on the table because we developed Sipho from scratch and we are building a team around him, so letting him go will disrupt the structure of the club. We will need to make the sale worthwhile – that’s if we do agree to sell him,” a source told the Citizen in March.

Mbule’s value has been estimated at a little over R7 million putting him out of reach of most clubs in South Africa except the big three.

He is yet another former Orlando Pirates youngster who has gone on to impress after being let go by the club and that release could come back to haunt them if rivals Kaizer Chiefs bag his signature.
