Orlando Pirates are set for a massive boost for their Nedbank Cup final against Sekhukhune United at Loftus Versfeld stadium this weekend.

Orlando Pirates are set for a massive boost for their Nedbank Cup final against Sekhukhune United at Loftus Versfeld stadium this weekend.

Pirates will be looking to clinch a domestic cup double by beating Sekhukhune on Saturday and their efforts are set to be aided by the return of a key player.

Pirates players and technical staff members were hard at work on Tuesday, preparing for the final for this weekend. As members of the media gathered around the training pitch at the Rand Stadium, they were all able to notice a that a talismanic figure was back on the field and in full training.

The player in question of course is none other than Thembinkosi Lorch. The fan favourite has been out of action for several weeks with an injury he picked up when Pirates played against Cape Town City, a 2-1 victory for the Buccaneers at the Orlando Stadium on the 22nd of April. Although there had been hopes that ‘Nyoso’ would return in time for the Nedbank Cup semifinal against arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs, in the end, that fixture as well as the next round of fixtures all proved to be a bridge to far for the player.
Lorch back for Pirates
Now the latest development on Lorch will come as a welcome relief for the Pirates faithful, who have often been starved of seeing their star man through various long-term injuries over the past couple of seasons. His situation would’ve also been frustrating for the fans as they would’ve been treated to some good cameo appearances by the player, who has reminded them sparingly, of his quality.

Although he was getting stuck in with the rest of his Pirates teammates, it is yet to be confirmed that Lorch is officially back and fit enough to play a part in the showpiece finale against Sekhukhune, but the signs are very positive.
