Chiefs have been making moves in the transfer window, having made seven signings so far during this transfer window.

Chiefs signing spree

On Tuesday evening Chiefs announced six of those signings in Dillon Solomons, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, George Matlou, Siyethemba Sithebe, Zitha Kwinika, and Ashley du Preez. The club were not done there, however, as they would also announce the highly anticipated deal of former Sekhukhune United midfielder Yusuf Maart

The changes at Chiefs haven’t only come in the shape of the seven in comings thus far, but there have been a whole raft of outgoings too. On Tuesday the club continued their playing exodus by announcing that veteran defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya would be leaving the club. Mphahlele had started receiving regular game time as well as the captain’s armband towards the end of his career at the club. The former Bafana Bafana International had also started showing some good form, that had many thinking that there could still be a future for him at the club during its transition.

Two more out

Ntiya-Ntiya was another one who was rumoured to have been given a new lease on life by Arthur Zwane at Chiefs. The left-back had found himself out of favour under all three of Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter (who put him on the transfer list) as well as Zwane. It was then no surprise that the player was eventually offloaded by the club. The departure of those players now takes the number of released players to 10, while Akumu Agay’s transfer listing makes it eleven players discarded by the first team.

Now with all of those players leaving Chiefs, they leave behind a few jersey numbers for both the remaining and incoming players to take on. Amakhosi’s social media had filmed the squad starting going into training and in doing so, gave hints at which jersey numbers the new players would be wearing at the club. It is to be noted that of the new arrivals, former Swallows trio Mahlatsi, Solomons as well as Matlou were not present. This was presumably because they had been given extra time off, having just concluded the PSL Promotion/Relegation playoffs. Maart was also not visible in the video.

Jersey numbers revealed?

However, Du Preez, Kwinika and Sithebe were shown in the video and their possible jersey numbers had been revealed. If the video is anything to go by, du Preez will be wearing jersey number nine, vacated by Samir Nurkovic, Kwinika will don jersey number four previously worn by Daniel Cardoso, while Sithebe seems to have been assigned jersey number six which was previously worn by Kearyn Baccus at Chiefs.
