Veteran defender Vuyo Mere has found a new home just hours after leaving Swallows FC in what was a shock departure.

Veteran defender Vuyo Mere has found a new home just hours after leaving Swallows FC in what was a shock departure.

In a statement released on Friday, Mere’s new club TS Galaxy confirmed that the former Mamelodi Sundowns right-back penned an 18-month deal.

Despite being 37 years of age, Mere confirmed in his farewell letter to Swallows that he had no intentions of retiring from the game.

He continues to enjoy a professional career spanning over 20 years – he first made his PSL debut as a 17-year-old in 2001.

MERE’S RELATIONSHIP WITH SWALLOWS TURNED SOUR

Mere was in his second-and-a-half season with Swallows, and he was amongst the most loved players in the nest.

However, the relationship turned sour after Mere reportedly stood up for players who were not paid their full salaries.

Mere was then hauled before the Swallows disciplinary committee and charged with misconduct.

And while Swallows initially revealed that Mere would be staying after appearing before the disciplinary committee, the defender shocked his fans when he announced his departure from Swallows on Thursday.
