Sundowns co-coach Rhulani Mokwena has revealed that striker Peter Shalulile is battling with a complicated muscular injury.

Mamelodi Sundowns returned to the DStv Premiership with a 1-0 victory over Marumo Gallants at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday night. 

Sphelele Mkhulise’s superb goal sealed a 1-0 triumph for Bafana Ba Style as Sundowns produced some brilliant movement off the ball, with Mkhulise shooting past Washington Arubi from a close range.

The home team scored the only goal of the game on 28 minutes to ensure that they reclaim the top spot in the league.

However, Sundowns were without Shalulile, and it now appears that he could be sidelined for an indefinite period due to a complicated injury.

“We will update you as he’s got a bit of a complicated situation,” Sundowns’ co-coach Rhulani Mokwena told the media on Wednesday night. “We are trying to see various specialists and get different opinions.”

In other results on Wednesday night, Chiefs played out to a 2-2 draw with TS Galaxy, while Richards Bay edged past Cape Town City 1-0Swallows proved too strong for Royal AM 2-0 and AmaZulu and Maritzburg United played out to a 1-1 draw in their KwaZulu-Natal derby.
