Update on options for Chiefs trialist ‘Neymar’

Chiefs have assessed several players as the club considers new squad additions, but it remains to be seen what deals will be made.

Mozambique player Amânsio ‘Neymar’ Canhembe was one of the players who spent time being assessed by Kaizer Chiefs recently, but has since headed away from Naturena.

In the latest update, iDiski Times reports that Chiefs have yet to be make an offer for the free agent after his trial period, and Moroccan club Olympique Club de Khouribga have since tabled an offer.

It would seem that Canhembe will continue to weigh up his options, and while he may have favoured a move to South Africa, it increasingly seems unlikely that Chiefs will go this route.

Chiefs could land one other trialist

Congolese striker Christian Saile Basomboli is reportedly on the verge of concluding a deal to join Amakhosi.

Basomboli – who plays for Nchanga Rangers in Zambia – was recently on trial with Chiefs as they looked to assess if he would be a good fit at the club.

The somewhat unknown forward was described as a “mobile left-footed striker who is also comfortable coming from the wing, on either side of the pitch.”

It was recently reported that he had returned to Rangers, although it remained to be seen if he had perhaps done enough to earn an offer from Chiefs.

In the latest bombshell news, SABC Sport reports that the 22-year-old looks set to come to South Africa to conclude his deal with Chiefs after transfer talks were successfully reignited between the two clubs.

The article suggests that negotiations have been reopened as the talented youngster now looks set to settle on personal terms with Chiefs.
