Hlongwane has penned a three-year deal with TS Galaxy, while Roberts has signed a six-month loan deal, and Galaxy president Tim Sukazi believes the double recruitment will help the team move forward.

“We are very happy to be joined by Lefa Hlongwane. He is one of the most talented offensive players in the country. He will certainly boast our attacking play and we look forward to his successful stay at our club.

“We are very delighted to have Shane on board. He is a player that we rate highly and we firmly believe that he will have lots of value to our squad,“ commented Sukazi.

Last year Maritzburg United terminated Hlongwane’s contract, with issues such as arriving late at training and allegedly being a party animal said to be the main reasons for letting him go.

However, Galaxy have opted to give the player a second chance and have signed him up for the second half of the 2021/22 season, with coach Sead Ramovic welcoming Hlongwane’s signing.

“Lefa is an extremely talented midfielder. I’ve had the pleasure of working with him. He will add value to our team. He is very creative and skillful. He now understands what we want from him,” said Ramovic.

Commenting on Roberts’ acquisition Ramovic added: “I’m happy with the acquisition of Shane. He will add a much-needed value to our midfield. He is a good quality player with a lot of experience. Looking forward to working with him.”

He has penned a three-year deal with the Rockets, with TSG President Tim Sukazi stating that they were “overwhelmed with excitement about securing the services of Hlongwane”.

Hlongwane made 12 appearances for Maritzburg and was a key member of Ernst Middendorp’s plans until off-field troubles saw the two parties part ways.

He is said to have been already training with TS Galaxy for some time before putting pen to paper, and it will be interesting to see if the club is now able to get the best out of him.
