Kaizer Chiefs left-back Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya is set to remain at Amakhosi despite being placed on the transfer list previously.

In December last year, the 25-year-old left-back played 86 minutes before being substituted in the Glamour Boys’ 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United in what was Ntiya-Ntiya’s first start for the club in over a year.

TRANSFER TALK: PIRATES COULD MAKE LATE BID FOR SURPRISE SIGNING

He had been placed on Chief’s transfer list following the arrival of coach Stuart Baxter prior to the season, and battled for game time after the signings of Sifiso Hlanti and Sibusiso Mabiliso added to the options at left-back.

However, after an injury to Hlanti, he worked his way back into the team and this seems to have worked in his favour as the January transfer window draws to a close.

According to Goal.com, his agent Jazzman Mahlakgane has indicated that the tough-tackling player will not be leaving the Chiefs in this window.

“Yes, he was placed on the transfer window, but he is now playing,” Mahlakgane told GOAL

“Ntiya-Ntiya has been playing week in week out. He is contracted to Kaizer Chiefs until 2024.”

Speaking ahead of Kaizer Chiefs’ recent Royal AM clash before Christmas, Ntiya-Ntiya told his club’s website that he was grateful to have made a return to a frontline role.

“To start the game was a great feeling. It has been a long time since I started a league game and I am happy to have stepped in after such a long time. And to then gel with the team is a really positive thing.

“I feel hundred percent that I gave the team a good performance. It was good for me and for the team, because we were able to sharpen the squad.

“My physicality is on the right track. To play for that long after starting a game for the first time in over a year shows that. Not every player can start a game after a year and play almost 90 minutes.”

Ntiya-Ntiya added that his goals include making the Bafana Bafana squad.

“My next step from here is to get more game time. So that I can improve myself and we never know, I can get into the national set up one day, I do feel that the coaches now have a good headache, as we have all put up our hands with Sunday’s showing,” he said.

“We need to push each other because we are all working for the team.”
