The 2019-20 Premier Soccer League is getting intense. While cup fixtures have gone thick and fast, there are some serious rivalries brewing in South Africa’s Premiership. If you missed any of the weekend’s action, you can catch up with the latest PSL scores and get the latest PSL log here.

Kazier Chiefs strengthened their grip on top spot over the weekend, beating Mamelodi Sundowns 0-2 in front of a capacity crowd.

Samir Nurkovic scored a brace for Amakhosi, nudging him up the list of Chiefs’ most prolific goal scorers so far this season.

Elsewhere, Chiefs’ Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates continued their slump in form. They were beaten by PSL newcomers Stellenbosch FC over the weekend.

Pirates and Chiefs will meet int he Soweto Derby over the weekend, but coach Rulani Mokwena insisted that he wasn’t thinking that far ahead. Instead, he says it’s all about Pirates’ fixture against Highlands Park on Tuesday.

“I am not even thinking about Chiefs, I’ve got Highlands Park next on Tuesday, you saw how difficult it was for even Sundowns to beat Highlands Park, hard-running team,” Head Coach Mokwena said after his side’s 1-0 loss to Stellenbosch FC.

“They (Highlands) are very good on dead ball situations and are a difficult team with lots of very good players up front; they have lots of speed.”

“For now – what’s important is to analyse this game, clean it and focus 100% on Highlands, that is our most important game at the moment, not Kaizer Chiefs.”

“I am not even thinking about Kaizer Chiefs or the back-to-back derbies and I am being honest, my focus at this moment in time is to make sure that we win against Highlands Park,” he added.

But bucket loads of goals don’t always mean dominating the PSL log, as you will see from the table below.
