Top Bafana star now out of reach for Chiefs and Pirates?

Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns could see themselves out priced for one of their Bafana Bafana targets!

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are both believed to be ready to revamp their attacking department ahead of next season.

That would naturally see Chiefs and Pirates fighting within the same market for the calibre of players to improve them.

Pirates have already started their process of refreshing their attack by releasing two strikers two weeks ago. Both Saouibou Marou and Kermit Erasmus were deemed surplus to requirements at the club, which was largely expected. On the side of Chiefs, only Jasond Gonzalez will see his loan deal expire at the club. The rest of their misfiring strikers will either have to be sold or loaned or even have their deals terminated.

Pirates, Chiefs and Sundowns interested in Appollis

While Chiefs still need to make those decisions, the advantage of Pirates is that they already have a coach. Amakhosi could have a situation where a new coach comes in and decides to give the misfiring players a chance. That could see the targets fall into the lap of the Buccaneers. The strikers that have been linked with both Soweto giants are Iqraam Rayners, Andy Boyeli and Oswin Appollis

Appollis is a player both Chiefs and Pirates have been monitoring for a while now. Mamelodi Sundowns are also believed to have joined the party. After his latest exploits for Bafana Bafana, it is believes the player could now be out of reach in the local market, according to KickOff.com.

“He’s (Appollis) still very likely to go, but you have to remember this is a national team player and you see what he is bringing to the table. So ,it’s not a surprise he won’t come cheap and his value is only going up,” said a source.

Price gone up

Polokwane City coach Phuti Mohafe claimed last month that the club will only sell Appollis abroad. This alone could be a blow to the likes of Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns, especially as the price goes up!
