Is it too late for Chiefs to consider signing Kodisang?

It will be interesting to see whether Kaizer Chiefs would still consider renewing their interest in previous target Kobamelo Kodisang.

Since last season concluded, Chiefs have only really added to their strike-power through the signing of Ashley Du Preez, which comes after releasing the likes of Samir Nurkovic, Lazalous Kambole and Leonardo Castro.

The club is said to have been looking at Wayde Lekay, Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Musa Kamara, who were ‘on trial’ in the team camp. Lekay is apparently no longer part of Chiefs’ planning, though, as they are looking for an out-and-out striker, but the club management have reportedly been very impressed by Bimenyimana.

According to KickOff.com, it’s been reported that inside sources suggest the club have indeed opened negotiations with Bimenyimana’s representatives in hopes of settling on an agreement.

A positive meeting was apparently held on Saturday afternoon, and a decent deal looks to be on the cards for the talented striker, who has played previously in Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Rwanda.

Previously, Chiefs were said to have submitted an offer for highly-regarded Kobamelo Kodisang, but ultimately this was not accepted by Braga SC.

Instead, it was reported that Kodisang was in line to spend the 2022/23 season on loan at Portuguese Premier League club, Desportivo de Chaves, with an option then to make it a permanent move.

However, just this past weekend, reports out of Portugal have stated that the deal with Chaves has now fallen through, and the talented 22-year-old is set to head back to Brava.

With that in mind, it remains to be seen whether Chiefs could now consider tabling a new offer if they hope to lure Kodisang to Naturena before the start of the new season.

If Chiefs believe Bimenyimana is best suited to their needs, though, they could well be satisfied with their options, and could then be unlikely to return to the negotiating table for Kodisang.
