Kaizer Chiefs are edging ever so closer to announcing the appointment of Nasreddine Nabi as their new coach.

After plenty of debate about who Chiefs would eventually go for, it looks as if they opted for Nabi.

Nabi was the leading candidate for the Chiefs job even last season, with negotiations between the duo becoming public. In the end, there was a huge uproar when they could not come to an agreement. There was an even bigger social media uproar when the club announced Molefi Ntseki as the coach instead!

Chiefs secure Nabi

It was believed then that the sticking point was the number of backroom staff Nabi could bring with him. After both dug their heels in, it was decided there would be no further negotiations. It now looks like both parties have learnt from that ordeal. This publication reported that Chiefs were moving quickly and with intent, with regards this appointment. It was said that, the club sent a delegation of senior officials to Rabat, in an effort to convince Nabi to leave AS FAR for Amakhosi. The Tunisian tactician then made two requests: ‘Show me your long-term plan and allow me to bring my own coaching staff’.

It looks like Chiefs have successfully delivered on both. This as the next update was that, they had reached an agreement with AS FAR for his early release. Yesterday this publication reported Amakhosi reached an agreement with Nabi on terms that will see him become their new coach.

Now according to iDiski Times Nabi will bring six new faces to Chiefs, and three have been revealed!

Three of the six Nabi is bringing

“His current assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef, who worked as an analyst with him at Yanga will join as his second assistant, former Mauritania goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi has already been secured while Majdi Safi, who worked with Wydad and Raja replaces Muzi Maluleke as the strength and conditioning coach. Talks remain ongoing for a highly experienced assistant coach to cap off the technical staff and another analyst, which will bring the total to six new members of Chiefs’ technical team for the 2024/25 season.” Said the source.

Chiefs and Nabi have clearly agreed on wholesale changes, but will they have the desired result?
