According to former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Papi Zothwane there are three attributes that make Peter Shalulile the Premier Soccer League’s best striker.

The Namibian forward has been involved in ten league goals for Mamelodi Sundowns this season, scoring six and laying on a further four for teammates.

Shalulile enjoyed a breakout season at Highlands Park last term, netting 16 goals and playing all 30 of the now-defunct Tembisa-based team’s matches.

He has scored nine goals across all competitions this season and although he isn’t the club’s leading scorer, that honour currently belongs to Themba Zwane, Shalulile’s impact on Sundowns has been lauded.

Shalulile was the driving force behind Highlands Park’s efforts in 2019/20 and continues to be industrious even among more illustrious company at Chloorkop.

Zothwane believes that Shalulile has succeeded in adapting to life at Sundowns where others have failed due to his work ethic, his team-mindedness and his speed and mobility make him the best out and out striker in the PSL right now.

“The guy is very mobile. It’s difficult in the modern game to deal with a striker like Shalulile who is mobile. He is a hard worker, and is a team player,” Zothwane told KickOff.com.

“He can create chances for his teammates. As much as he works hard, he wants to score. He did well for Highlands Park, but he’s a team player, he’s a hard worker and he’s very mobile.

“In all the strikers that we have in Mzansi, I think he’s the number one for me. He’s a mobile striker, it’s a modern game. In PSL he’s the most [mobile],” the erstwhile Sundowns man added.

“I don’t think there’s a defender that wants to face Shalulile because he will take you to the right, to the left… yoh! He is a workaholic that guy.”
