The major reason Orlando Pirates lost to Sekhukhune
Orlando Pirates will have to go back to the drawing board after a tough defeat at Sekhukhune. We’ve speculated as to why they lost that game.

Orlando Pirates fell to a somewhat surprising defeat away to Sekhukhune United yesterday.
There were mitigating circumstances though, and we’ve isolated one reason for the poor result.
Pundits might conveniently point to the fact that Jose Riveiro’s side had to contend with more than 30 minutes with 10 men, and that’s true. But Pirates weren’t really dominating the contest before James Monyane’s dismissal anyway.

Olisa Ndah has been a near ever-present in a settled Pirates back three this season. His absence yesterday threw off that balance. Having shipped just three goals in eight games all season, Pirates conceded twice inside seven minutes in Limpopo yesterday. The Buccaneers sorely missed his influence.

Let’s also give credit where it’s due to Sekhukhune. They’ve been a tough nut to crack this season with just three defeats from nine games, and none in their last three.
