Former youth international Phumelele ‘Ace’ Bhengu has had a go from distance, in the hopes of attracting the interest of Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates.

Bhengu is currently with National First Division side Bizana Pondo Chiefs, but feels that he could make an impact for the biggest clubs in the country.

“I can still play for Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs and do the scoring there. Not that I am demanding to walk in and be handed a contract, but if I can get a chance to train with the team, I can earn a contract.

“However, right now football people have turned their backs on me. Every door that I knock on there is no response. I have even gone as far as asking for a trial at just about every team in the PSL and the NFD, but then it is all dark.

“I still want to play football but the opportunities seem to have dried up for me. I have even tried at Swallows, where I felt I did enough to at least earn a contract in the PSL but then it is all blanks.

“Some coaches that I had hoped will stand up for me, considering the relationships that I had with them, have also dumped me but then I am not giving up because I have not been horrible at any of the clubs that I have been with.”

King Ndlovu does the rounds

Orlando Pirates target King Ndlovu is reportedly training with Marumo Gallants in a bid to secure a contract for next season.

Ndlovu has had trials with Chippa United and Orlando Pirates but hasn’t reached agreements with either side.

The goalkeeper has been a free agent since parting ways with Black Leopards towards the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

Gallants have confirmed the player’s presence in their camp but couldn’t say what the status of a potential move was.

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Gaston Sirino has returned to training at Chloorkop, just weeks after having confirmed his desire to move to Al Ahly.

Sirino has done his utmost to force through a deal that would see him re-unite with Pitso Mosimane a the Egyptian Giants but Sundowns have so far held their ground.

SAFA after key Kaizer Chiefs man

Kaizer Chiefs’ chief scout Walter Steenbok is one of the three people who have reportedly been short-listed for the technical director position vacated by Neil Tovey.

Safa CEO Tebogo Motlanthe has confirmed that they are just waiting for the technical committee to finalize things before they can announce Tovey’s replacement, but while he revealed Steenbok is a candidate he could not name the successor to Kaizer Chiefs icon Tovey.

“Walter came to present to the [Safa] technical committee with the two others. The decision has not yet been made‚” Motlanthe told Sowetan.

“He is one of the candidates. We are just waiting for finalisation from the technical committee.”

Former Orlando Pirates striker says ‘show me the money’

Former Orlando Pirates striker Mwape Musonda is back in South Africa training with Black Leopards but remains out of contract and has welcomed offers for his services.

Musonda said that he would only take a deal that he believed was fair as he now needs to consider life after football.

“The financial aspect is one of the main priorities right now, we play for money that is what all we want,” Musonda told Daily Sun

“There’s life after football. You need to make sure that you are secured and don’t come back and have to ask for a cold drink from people.

“It’s shameful. To avoid that, I think you need to make sure that you go for the money. It does not matter where you’re playing, as long as you get the money.”
