Man United manager Erik ten Hag and his players are reportedly unhappy with the manner and timing of Cristiano Ronaldo bombshell interview.

By now it is common knowledge that Ronaldo did a 90-minute sit-down interview with media personality Piers Morgan. In said interview, the 37-year-old player spoke about a wide range of topics within the club.

But it was his derogatory comments on first team boss Ten Hag and former teammate and all-time Man United leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney, that irked the club’s passionate supporters.

How Man United players found out about Ronaldo interview

It has now come to light that fans of the famous club are not the only ones who has it in for Ronaldo. According to reputable Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, Ten Hag and the players are ‘extremely disappointed’ with the manner in which Ronaldo aired his grievances.

Teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho scored a stoppage-time winner to lift Man United to a 2-1 victory against Fulham in London on Sunday and the squad only found out about the interview as they were preparing to fly back to Manchester after the game last night.

Furthermore, according to Solhekol, Ronaldo was informed on Thursday night that he would not be in the Man United XI for the Fulham game, but that he would be on the bench as part of the match-day squad. As such, Ronaldo was expected to travel with the team to London. But he then informed the club that he would not make the trip with the team due to illness. He did not specify what illness he suffered from.

Solhekol reports that the Man United hierarchy are now considering how best to handle the Ronaldo situation before issuing an official club statement. It is believed the club are contemplating several options to severe ties with the Ronaldo, including selling the player in the January transfer window, terminating his contract immediately or just not selecting him in the first team until his contract expires in June.
