Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are both thought to be chasing similar transfer targets ahead of the next transfer window.

One of those targets is thought to be Marumo Gallants striker Ranga Chivaviro with both Chiefs and Pirates thought to have inquired about his services.

Chivaviro has been in excellent form for Gallants of late, where he has starred for the club in both the DStv Premiership, as well as their impressive run in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they found themselves as unlikely semifinalists. In the league the Zimbabwean marksman has also hit a purple patch, which had attracted the likes of Pirates and Chiefs to him.

Earlier in the year, Chivaviro would have made Pirates and their fans very happy with his equaliser against their arch rivals Chiefs, taking points away from them in the tightly contested race for the CAF Champions League spots. Then he would have certainly enhanced his reputation by scoring a hat trick in last nights come from behind victory over struggling Chippa United, to add to the terrific form Gallants find themselves in at the turn of the year.

Two months ago, however, this publication reported that his agent had shot down rumours that Chivaviro was headed to either Chiefs or Pirates in the off-season. Did say, however, that should any of the club’s call he would pick up the phone and hear them out, although his first intention is to send the 30-year-old striker overseas.

Now according to the latest report from iDiski Times, the agent might not get his wish, and neither did Chiefs or Pirates call for his services. If they did, it looks likes Yanga SC would have beaten them to the services of Chivaviro.

Chiefs and Pirates to lose out on Chivaviro to Yanga?

iDiski Times understands over the course of his impressive form, Sekhukhune United, Azam FC, and Richards Bay all launched official offers for his services but Yanga are closing in on his services for the upcoming season after making inroads in negotiations. Sources close to the club confirmed to this website that Chivaviro is enticed by them due to their participation in the CAF Champions League next season and the lure of chasing silverware across multiple competitions.” Wrote the publication.

With Gallants suffering relegation yesterday, it is now most certain that Chivaviro will find a new home, and it could even be at a cheaper price.
