Mhango has continued to struggle for game time at Pirates and Young Africans are reported to be keen to take him on board.

Mhango embroiled in controversy early this season

Mhango had been embroiled in a lot of off the field controversy, that has subsequently hampered his game time at Pirates. First he was he was held up outside of a Pretoria night club, with reports suggesting he could not foot a hefty bill. Not long after that he would find himself riddled in more controversy, as he was alleged to have driven over the foot of adult actress Wandi Ndlovu. To make matters worse for the Malawian international, all of this happened at a time where he was injured and supposed to be self-isolating.

After those incidents, it has been a long way back for Mhango , who even after recovering from the injury that kept him sidelined, he still found himself out of the Pirates match day squad. He then got a temporary escape from the Buccaneers camp, when he was called up by the Malawian national team coach to play in the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon earlier this year. Malawi ended up being one of the surprise packages of the tournament, as they progressed beyond the group stages with Mhango starring.

Young Africans looking to pounce

After his exploits in Cameroon, it was thought that Mhango would be afforded a run of games at Pirates, especially after his attitude was praised by their management before he left for the Afcon. Contrary to those beliefs, however, he has continued to find himself outside the starting 11. Now according to Africa Sport Today, there are several reports in Tanzania that suggest giants Young Africans are closing in on signing the player, who has reportedly grown frustrated at his lack of game time at the Buccs.

New Pirates deal

It is hard to believe those rumours as of yet, with Mhango having signed a new deal with Pirates before the Afcon tournament. That could, however, prove to be a ploy to garner a transfer fee for the player from the Sea Robbers, if they did, indeed renew with the intentions to sell.
