Kaizer Chiefs up to second on the log with Swallows win – 28 November

Kaizer Chiefs recorded a convincing 3-1 win over Swallows FC to move up to second on the DStv Premiership log.

Khama Billiat netted a brace with Keagan Dolly scoring the other goal for Chiefs while Swallows’ consolation came from Lebogang Mokoena.

Chiefs went into the encounter a depleted side with thrre of their players suspended while other unnamed players tested positive for Covid-19.

Chiefs will all over Swallows in the opening stages of the game with Billiat and Dolly at the centre of the attacks launched.

The visitors were finally rewarded for their relentless pressure as Dolly opened the scoring in the 43rd minute for his sixth goal of the season.

Soon afterwards, Billiat doubled Amakhosi’s lead with a sublime finish just before the half-time break, much to the delight of Stuart Baxter’s technical bench.

Swallows knew they needed a different plan in the second half while Chiefs looked to push for more goals.

It wasn’t long before Chiefs made it 3-0 via Billiat who cut through the Swallows defence before slotting the ba past Jody February in the 53rd minute.

Swallows captain Lebogang Mokoena showed leadership skills as he reduce the deficit with a good finish, beating Daniel Akpeyi to make it 3-1 in the 63rd minute.

Swallows appeared to have found their groove as they started to take the game to Chiefs after that Mokoena goal.

Ramahlwe Mphahlele had to come to the rescue as he headed the ball away from danger with Swallows threatening.

There was another scare for Chiefs as Erick Mathoho was forced to make a crucial clearance from a Swallows attack in the 73rd minute.

The final 18 minutes saw Chiefs manage the game despite a number of attacks from Swallows.

Ultimately, Chiefs ran 3-1 winners, and subsequently moved up to second on the log with 22 points from their 13 league games.
