Swallows FC set to part ways with former PSL top goalscorer

Swallows are reportedly set to part ways with a former PSL Golden Boot winner who has struggled in front of goal over the past two seasons.

Swallows are reportedly set to part ways with a former PSL Golden Boot winner who has struggled in front of goal over the past two seasons.

According to a report by SABC Sport, Mwape Musonda looks set to headline a list of those that will be leaving the Dube Birds.

Musonda hasn’t enjoyed the best of seasons at Swallows with just three goals to show for it this term from the 12 matches that he played.

Last season, Musonda netted just four times in 24 competitive matches for Swallows, and the technical team lost faith in him.

It was during the 2016-17 season when Musonda topped the league’s goalscoring charts with 16 goals in 28 games whilst on the books of Black Leopards.

Musonda would later move to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to sign with Hatta who then loaned him to Al-Sahel in Saudi Arabia in 2021.

“SABC Sport understands striker Mwape Musonda is expected to be one of the casualties in a player clear-out at Swallows FC,” reports the publication.

NYATAMA WINS COACH OF THE MONTH AFTER IMPRESSIVE SWALLOWS RUN

Swallows FC interim coach Musa Nyatama has won the DStv Premiership Coach of the Month award for May following his team’s great run.

Under Nyatama’s tutelage, Swallows recorded three league wins on the trot during the month of May and qualified for the Top 8.

Swallows first beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 away from home before beating Royal AM 1-0 in Durban soon afterwards. They closed the campaign with a with a 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants at home.

And that meant Nyatama had a 100 percent win record during the month of May, and his record could not be overlooked by the judging panel.
