“The Chairman spoke to me last week and said ‘look, forget about all the rumours about Gavin Hunt, Ernst Middendorp and Cavin Johnson (coming to Swallows). You are going to be the coach here next season’,” Kerr said.

“I love it at Swallows. I mean it’s a good set-up. He’s got ambitions, he has dreams but those ambitions and dreams we all have to be honest and not make the mistakes that we have been making these past six months when I joined the club.

“Let’s go forward and learn from our mistakes. Every football club has its flaws, every football club does things that you are not supposed to do. But that’s going to stay in-house; it’s not something for the public.

“But we all make mistakes when it comes to team selections, substitutions, we get them right sometimes get them wrong. Picking the winning team so we learn from it and we grow from it.”

Swallows finished 15th in the 2021/22 season, picked up just 26 points from their 30 matches thanks to four wins, 14 draws and 12 defeats.
