Ronwen Williams has been out with an ACL grade two tear sustained against Cape Town City last month, having played 109 consecutive games for Matsatsantsa prior to getting injured.

And the Bafana Bafana No 1 has given a positive update on his recovery.

“I have started training so I am looking forward to next week’s game [against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila] because there is an 80-100 percent chance that I will be there if I don’t get to have any setbacks in the next few days. But so far so good. This was an ACL grade two tear,” Ronwen Williams said, according to the Kickoff website.

“I was advised to be out for three weeks and it is the third week now, so I have started light training and the knee is feeling strong.

“I have started kicking again which was the major issue so that has felt okay and I need to build on that for now.

“This injury had nothing to do with the amount of football that I had played because it was a direct knock that I got against Cape Town City. Craig Martin hit me with his knee. I know it is easy to think I got this injury because of how much football I had played but this was a direct knock so and there is nothing you can do about that.

“I am looking forward to coming back on the field again,” Ronwen Williams concluded.
