As reported on The South African website last week, Erasmus feels leaving Sundowns for Chiefs would be ideal for his career due to his high-salary package.

Pirates have also been bandied about, mostly by a section of fans who wants the 32-year-old back after a slow start from the current strikers.

Chiefs, on the other hand, might have recently signed Burundi international Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana but their fans believe they need more firepower upfront.

Now, according to Soccer Laduma, Sundowns don’t have a problem with letting Erasmus go and join a team of his choice EXCEPT for Chiefs or Pirates.

And that’s because they feel, according to the publication, that they would indirectly be strengthening the either of the Soweto giants.

What Sundowns are probably working on right now is to convince Erasmus to sign an agreement that prevents him from joining Chiefs or Pirates before handing him his clearance.

SUNDOWNS TO BLOCK ERASMUS FROM JOINING CHIEFS OR PIRATES?

“According to sources close to the player, the Tshwane giants are open to parting ways with the player too, but on condition that he does not put pen to paper at Chiefs or the Buccaneers; a club he previously played for between 2013 and 2016 to avoid strengthening a rival outfit for the DStv Premiership title,” reports the publication.

“Should the player get his clearance before the transfer window closes, he will be in a position to join a team of his choice… with the exception of the two Soweto giants as indicated by Siya sources if that clause in the agreement is included.”

Erasmus has found himself kicking his heels out in the stands this season as he’s yet to feature for Sundowns after falling down the pecking order.

The arrival of Chile international Marcelo Allende somehow confirmed that Erasmus may not be in the Sundowns technical team’s plans for this season.
