Sundowns want to win the Carling Black Label Cup

The trophy has previously only been contested between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

However, this season it becomes the spiritual successor to the old Charity Spectacular.

Voting from the public sees Sundowns and Amazulu join the Soweto giants in the race for the Carling Black Label Cup.

“Coming to the Carling Black Label, obviously we’re looking forward to it,” Williams told reporters according to Sport24.

“We want to add our name on it. I’m looking at the trophy now and for obvious reasons our name is not on so we would like to add it there because we are a big team and we want to associate ourselves with the big trophies and for us we want to win each and every trophy.”

On top of being able to be a leader in the top team in South Africa, Williams joined Sundowns to take his game to the next level.

“A massive team like Sundowns showed interest in me and it showed that they believe that I can add value. It motivated me in the sense that, I have worked with Denis (Onyango) and Reyaad (Pieterse), and I saw over the years how their game improved.

“That’s what I’ve been looking for in the last years… [it] was to improve. I have got so much abilities that was hidden and it’s coming out now at such a big team. We spend lots of hours with the coach and he shows me things that I can do, that I have not been doing over the years.

“That motivated me… [and] seeing how the other ‘keepers have improved. In the short time I have been here, I have improved already and there’s so much more for me to work on and get even better and that motivates and excites me,” Williams said.
