Mamelodi Sundowns have won the last four league titles and are the runaway leaders this season again with 25 points after just nine matches thanks to eight wins and a draw.

Frighteningly, the Tshwane giants have yet to concede a goal.

Mamelodi Sundowns look destined for a fifth title in as many seasons, but Baxter claimed that not even the Brazilians themselves would agree with that assumption.

“Not at all, not at all. If you put that to them now they’d probably laugh at you. We have to knock them off their perch,” Stuart Baxter insisted.

“I think what we find in the league is that even though new teams, let’s say new names appear [in the title race] it doesn’t mean that’s a small team. We’re a new team.

“There are still some other good teams who’re competitive, hence it won’t be easy to say they [Sundowns] are already gone with it.”

Perhaps Stuart Baxter should take a look at where his Kaizer Chiefs team are in the latest standings.

Amakhosi are currently sixth, but a full 10 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns AND have played one more match.

It would take something bordering on a miracle for Kaizer Chiefs to deny Mamelodi Sundowns the 2021/22 DStv Premiership title.
