South Africa’s next top-flight season is tentatively penciled in to kick off on Saturday, 14 August.

Usuthu did something similar this time last year where they unveiled a host of new players ahead of the season and the KwaZulu-Natal club went on to enjoy a successful campaign which culminated in a second-place finish behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

That runner-up spot was good enough to book AmaZulu a place in next season’s CAF Champions League.

Zungu isn’t wanting to rest on his laurels and is prepared to invest in the club ahead of what he expects to be a “demanding season”.

Speaking to Kickoff, Zungu said he will sit down with head coach Benni McCarthy and plot the way forward.

He said: “We are working not only on strengthening the squad but also creating requisite balance, given the demands of the coming season.

“We will be revealing the players that we’ve signed but also talk about players that we’ve released. That will be on the 5th of August – we will make all the plans public.

“We can’t reveal [names] right now. We’ve got a couple that we have signed from outside, and we’ve got a couple that we have promoted from the junior ranks, and also those that have returned from loan. So, I think we’re talking about 10 players.”

“I have not had an engagement with my technical team, Benni just got back into the country, so I’m still going to sit down with them to plan on all levels.”
