Stellies were unlucky to go down on penalties in the Nedbank Cup to Maritzburg United. SuperSport United also suffered disappointment as they went down 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Tshwane derby.

“I think this is one game we dominated. We dominated from start to finish; probably we lacked that killer punch especially in the final third. When you see Sundowns parking the bus in the final 20 minutes, then we were on top of them,” Tembo told SuperSport TV.

“I think credit to the guys, they played very well. I have no complaints in terms of effort, in terms of overall performance I think we played very well. We deserved something.”

Matsatsantsa cannot expect to have it all their own way against a Stellenbosch side which held them to a draw in the reverse fixture.

This fixture carries particular significance given that Iqraam Rayners, who has starred for Stellies this season, has signed a pre-contract with SuperSport United.

Kick-off time and prediction

Kick-off time: 14 February, 20:00

Prediction: Stellies have won their last two home league games, but will be up against a top quality side. A draw is a likely result in this game. Stellenbosch have a 32% chance of winning and SuperSport United 45%, but the hosts only win 11% of games at these odds and Matsatsantsa 36%.
