Maritzburg United stopper King Ndlovu believes that Orlando Pirates interest in him was fleeting.

Ndlovu said that the fact that he couldn’t immediately play for Orlando Pirates due to registration rules meant the deal was called off.

He would end up signing for Marumo Gallants and went on to be signed to Maritzburg United ahead of the upcoming campaign.

“It was towards the end of the season. I don’t think Pirates’ intention was to sign me to be their goalkeeper for a long time because they had a goalkeeping crisis at the time,” said Ndlovu.

“And they thought I could come in and play, but the transfer window had already closed. So, I played after the window. They didn’t know that I played after the widow and they realised that they couldn’t register me and play, so they couldn’t sign me.

“Cape Town City also showed interest. They wanted to sign me and said I could come through, but at the same time, Pirates were also keen to sign me, and I chose Pirates.

“But I had an option of Cape Town City but you know everybody wants to play for Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs. But unfortunately, that didn’t happen.”

Underrated stopper still waiting for his chance

Ndlovu believes that his abilities are under-rated which means that he hasn’t been given his shot at a major club.

“To be honest with you, I feel like I am underrated in this country. Like, I don’t understand. But I am not complaining. I will continue to work hard, but I don’t know who said what to who but at Pirates I nearly signed but ended up not doing so,” he concluded.
