Stanley Dimgba loving life in Stellenbosch – especially the weather!

Stellenbosch FC winger Stanley Dimgba is new to the South African top flight, but he has already made his mark this season.

Stellenbosch FC winger Stanley Dimgba is new to the South African top flight, but he has already made his mark this season and thanked his team-mates for their support.

The 28-year-old left Nigerian outfit Enyimba in November last year to sign for the Cape Winelands side, and he has quickly hit his stride with seven goals in 16 DStv Premiership games.

“[Before coming to the PSL] I did anticipate I will have a great season, that’s the reason the club brought me here, to add more value to the team. I have worked hard and I am glad it’s paying off, regardless of this being my maiden season,” Dimgba told the Sowetan.

“It’s all down to hard work and teamwork. We have worked really hard as a team, and we have suffered as one too, and it’s same with the benefits, so I must attribute it to teamwork too.”

“For me the PSL is very different from the Nigerian league, in terms of the organisation and value it offers – this league is well organised. There’s nothing like questionable refereeing, and nothing like fan violence,” Dimgba added.

“SA is a very nice country, there are loads of things I enjoy here, I will mention but a few: the scenic beauty, weather, excellent infrastructure and the people are very friendly – not quite much I dislike except not being close to my family.”
