The Springboks have a total of 10 players who will miss the massive test match against Ireland.

Rassie Erasmus confirmed NINE players that will miss the Springboks first test against Ireland.

Unfortunately, this list is bigger than it initially seemed (as if it wasn’t big enough).

10 SPRINGBOKS RULED OUT OF IRELAND TEST

  • Steven Kitshoff
  • Jean Kleyn
  • Lood de Jager
  • Deon Fourie
  • Jean-Luc du Preez
  • Jaden Hendrikse
  • Henco van Wyk
  • Canan Moodie
  • Damian Willemse
  • Kurt-Lee Arendse

Firstly, Deon Fourie has been ruled out with his Springbok future under jeopardy given his age and the seriousness of his injury. His name was not mentioned on the original list. Therefore, he is the tenth player to be ruled out.

Ultimately, Fourie suffered an ACL injury during the Stormers Champions Cup loss to La Rochelle in April.

So, he has been ruled out for six-months. Meaning, he will also miss the Springboks Rugby Championship campaign.

ANOTHER INJURY CONCERN FOR RASSIE, JAKE WHITE AND THE BULLS

Springbok veteran Willie le Roux is expected to be the first choice fullback against Ireland. Especially, with Damian Willemse being ruled out of the series. The Bulls fullback was replaced in the Bulls 25-20 win over Leinster in the URC semi-finals.

Initially, it was for a standard HIA. However, Jake White has confirmed that Le Roux too a bump to his neck too. Therefore, White and the Bulls face a nervous wait on the status of their star fullback who has revolutionized their backline this season. The Bulls are already without Kurt-Lee Arendse and Canan Moodie who are amongst three Springboks recently hospitalized.
