Kick-off is scheduled for 15:30.

There have been 51 Soweto league derbies to date since the PSL era kicked off in the 1996/97 season.

Orlando Pirates won the very first clash on 18 January 1997 at the FNB Stadium, 1-0, while Kaizer Chiefs won the most recent match on 6 November 2021, also at the FNB Stadium, 2-1.

With so much on the line in terms of bragging rights – or the butt of all jokes – it’s little wonder the vast majority of Soweto derbies end in draws.

In those 51 clashes to date, Kaizer Chiefs have won 15, Orlando Pirates have triumphed on 12 occasions and there have been 24 draws.

That means 47% of the time the spoils are shared come the final whistle.

Another Soweto derby stalemate?

So what will happen this time around?

According to leading South African bookmakers Hollywoodbets, another stalemate is on the cards.

Hollywoodbets have installed Orlando Pirates are marginal 16/10 favourites, with Kaizer Chiefs on offer at 19/10.

The draw can be backed at 18/10.
