In a statement of the rules issued out from CAF on the Champions League licensing criteria for next season, they confirm on point 12 that “ Letter from member association confirming the existence of the clubs women’s first team and that the team is registered in official competitions played at national, regional, or local level recognised by the association member”. However, while they have qualified for the CAF Champions League on paper and through their log positions, Pirates may will not be part of that tournament as things stand. That is because, CAF are set to impose their new rule that imposes all clubs participating in both the premier competition of African Football, as well as the second tier competition the CAF Confederation Cup.
