Out-of-favour midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu is said to have interest from Swallows and Maritzburg United, but will remain a Buccaneer for now.

Since joining from Maritzburg United in 2019, Ndlovu has failed to make much of an impression at Pirates, where he has struggled for game time: having made just five appearances for the Buccaneers this season.

Pirates currently lie second on the DStv Premiership standings – albeit a whopping 14 points behind log-leaders Sundowns – and are next in league action against Golden Arrows on 16 February.

According to KickOff, a reliable source close to the club has revealed that Pirates will retain the services of Ndlovu until at least the end of the current season.

“Like any player, Ndovu is frustrated by his lack of game time at the club,” the source revealed.

“Yes he enjoys being a Pirates player and the club management loves him, but he feels his football career is stagnating at the club.

“Both Swallows and Maritzburg are interested in his services, they wouldn’t mind getting him on loan for the rest of the season.

“But the issue is, his contract with Pirates will end exactly on the same day as that loan deal, so that makes it difficult for the Buccaneers to allow him to go on loan.

“So for now the player will be staying with the club at least until the end of the season.”

Ndlovu fighting a losing battle for game time

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Njabulo Manqana believes Ndlovu needs a loan move away from the club to revive his career.

Manqana told Soccer Laduma he could feel for Ndlovu, and suggested a fresh start elsewhere would be a good idea.

“It’s painful to see what is happening to Sphesihle Ndlovu, things in Gauteng can be tough and mentally it can really affect you.

“For me, I think he should ask for loan move, to restart his career, he is very talented and should be playing in the Bafana Bafana setup because at his best he can play anywhere.

“I can’t really say he can go back to Maritzburg United because mentally, he won’t be effective, if he gets a loan, I would suggest that he find new club for fresh start,” said Manqana.
