Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with attacking midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase, who was due to be out of contract at the end of the season.

The club issued a statement on Friday confirming that his contract has been terminated by mutual consent.

Ntshangase joined Kaizer Chiefs in January 2018 for a fee rumoured to be in excess of R3 million but he has failed to nail down a place in the starting XI.

The 27-year-old midfielder made his senior breakthrough with Black Leopards befoe moving to their Limpopo rivals Baroka FC where he caught the eye of Kaizer Chiefs scouts.

His only appearances in the Premiership this season have been off the bench and it has become apparent that coach gavin Hunt has made up his mind up.

Ntshangase has failed to register a goal in 38 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs and has not played a full 90 minutes during the 2020/21 campaign.

“Kaizer Chiefs and Siphelele Ntshangase have come to a decision to part ways with immediate effect,” read a statement from the club.

“The early termination of the contract follows weeks of discussions and processes between the two parties.

“Ntshangase’s contract with Amakhosi was due to end at the end of the current season after being extended for one season last year.

“We wish him well in his career.”

The writing had been on the wall for Siphelele Ntshangase last term when he was given no game-time at all but he chose to stay on for another season.

His agent recently told Kickoff.com that he just wants to be given a fair chance to prove himself.

“Chiefs made a decision, we could have made an opposite decision ourselves, but we went with it,” agent Jazzman Mahlakgane told KickOff.com in July 2020.

“Because I still said to you even then that Stash is one of the best midfielders in the country and Chiefs acquired and bought him, they didn’t get him for free. Surely if you buy a player for R3-million you know there must be something that you saw.

“So, myself and Stash, we sat and we spoke about this thing. His position has never changed, but he will play at Kaizer Chiefs. And I still believe that he will play. He will be one of the players that at some point or the other, he’s going to run that midfield, and he deserves his number 10 by the way.

“So those are things that we must get out of the way, because a lot of people get to be very twisted around whether or not Stash is this, Stash is that… he is, and he will always be. And I think given a chance, he’ll do well. Like any other player, he must be given a chance.”
