Royal AM CEO Sinky Mnisi has rubbished reports that the club paid HUGE sums of money to lure supporter Joy “Mama Joy” Chauke from Orlando Pirates to the KwaZulu-Natal side.

Chauke – who was a die-hard supporter of the Soweto giants – recently jumped ship in leaving the Sea Robbers for high-flying league “newcomers” Royal AM.

Royal AM came into existence prior to this season when owner Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize purchased the PSL status of Bloemfontein Celtic, renamed the club and moved their HQ to KwaZulu-Natal.

Reports did the rounds shortly after it was confirmed that “MamaJoy” would be in the Royal AM camp that her loyalty cost the flashy club millions – with reports of R3 million mentioned.

However. Mnisi has refuted claims that Chauke was paid to switch her allegiances.

“What do they mean about signing? Have they seen any documents that say she has been signed? She’s just an ordinary supporter who has decided to move from Pirates and join Royal AM, on her own accord,” Mnisi reportedly told Kickoff.

“There’s no such thing as signing a supporter, and we don’t sign supporters. Supporters will move from time to time to another team.

“By the way, Mama Joy was a supporter of Wits University and then moved to Orlando Pirates.

“Now she has moved again to MaMkhize because seemingly she likes what is taking place at Royal AM. A team that is owned by a woman.

“Probably that might be the reason from what I heard. She’s not like a player who’s getting a signing-on fee. She has joined Royal AM as a supporter.

“People must provide proof as they like to create stories and a lot of issues out of nothing. They must show us the contract that she has signed, and for how much.”
