SECOND striker leaves Maritzburg United in the space of 48 hours!

Venezuelan striker Jose Ali Meza has terminated his contract with Maritzburg United and is on the hunt for new employment.

Jose Ali Meza has terminated his contract with Maritzburg United and is on the hunt for new employment, according to a report.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker has not played a match since suffering a long-term knee injury during a DStv Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates in the 2020/21 season.

The Team of Choice have now decided to cut their losses and have mutually agreed to let the Venezuelan depart, according to a Kickoff website report.

“Alie Meza has terminated his contract with Maritzburg United,” a source confirmed.

“He is a free agent now and is 100% fit and fully recovered from his previous injury. He is waiting for new offers from both South Africa and South America.”

Meza is the second forward who Maritzburg United have lost in the last 48 hours after Bongokuhle Hlongwane – as first reported by The South African websiteturned down a move to PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns and signed for MLS side Minnesota United FC.

Jose Ali Meza played 21 matches for Maritzburg United

Meza, 30, signed for Maritzburg United in October 2020 having played 38 matches in all competitions for Masandawana.

He played 21 matches for Maritzburg United before electing to cut ties with the KwaZulu-Natal-based side.
