SAFA sends condolences to Itumeleng Khune and family after sister’s death

SAFA has sent its heartfelt condolences to the Khune family following the passing of Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune’s sister.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) sent its heartfelt condolences to the Khune family following the passing of Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune’s sister, Mapula, last week.

‘’On behalf of SAFA and the football fraternity, I would like to offer my condolences to the Khune family on their loss. We hope the Almighty will give you strength during this difficult period. May the soul of Mapula rest in peace,’’ said SAFA president, Danny Jordaan.

Mapula Khune died after the room in which she was sleeping caught fire in Ventersdorp in the North West province.

Itumeleng Khune missed Kaizer Chiefs’ CAF Champions League victory over Angolan side Petro de Luanda on Saturday at FNB Stadium as a result of the tragic news.

In addition, it was confirmed on Monday that Amakhosi coach Gavin Hunt had extended Khune’s leave.
