Pitso Mosimane to Kaizer Chiefs continues to gather pace as the dust settles on Jingles’ recent relegation from the Saudi Pro League.

Jingles’ wife spotted at Naturena?

These are unconfirmed rumours but they have cropped up in a few places. The first place we saw them was in the comments section of a post by Football SA. Moira Tlhagale, wife and agent of Pitso Mosimane, could easily have been negotiating a deal at Naturena. Then again, she could have easily been there for an informal visit with no strings or contractual implications attached.

Relegation from the Saudi Pro League wasn’t in the script

In another relevant twist, Pitso couldn’t save Abha from Saudi Pro League relegation after rock-bottom Al Hazm defeated them on the final day of the season. Jingles won’t be signing a new deal with Abha, but that’s no guarantee he’ll be available to manage Amakhosi. Does this make Alex Santos the favourite?

Pitso discussed Kaizer Chiefs back in January

“We should respect the brand, it is a big brand. When Chiefs play I go to the grandstand and watch. I don’t need that. If it is meant to be, it will be there. I declare to you officially on TV. I am here, I am available, I’m a professional coach. If it has to be, it will be. Do I want to coach Kaizer Chiefs? Why not? Why not coach Kaizer Chiefs? Why not?”

WHO IS ALEXANDRE SANTOS?

47-year-old Portuguese manager Alexandre Santos has vast experience in Africa and Europe. He’s won two league titles with Petro de Luanda in Angola and is on the brink of a third. Just one more win from their remaining two league outings will seal the deal. Santos has steered the relative minnows to CAF Champions League semi-final appearances in the last two seasons, displaying his acumen on the continental stage against the best sides. Before moving to Angola, Santos worked all over Europe, Asia and North Africa as an assistant coach at some huge clubs. His CV includes experience at Braga, Benni McCarthy’s old club FC Porto, and 14-time CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly. He’s also had stints in the United Arab Emirates and France. This guy has been around the block a few times but is still young in the life of a manager.
