Incoming manager Nasreddine Nabi will want to mould his Kaizer Chiefs squad from day one. Has he already identified a striker for the Glamour Boys?

Nabi has found a striker for Kaizer Chiefs

According to UnplayableZA on X, Nasreddine Nabi has zeroed in on Tumisang Orebonye as his first potential signing as head coach at Naturena. The 28-year-old striker plays under Nabi at FAR Rabat and has 40 caps for the Botswana National team alongside Thatayaone Ditlhokwe. The prolific hitman has four goals and an assist from 15 league appearances in 2023-2024. That’s a healthy ratio of direct foal contributions.

Entertaining football coming to Chiefs?

FAR Rabat boss Nasreddine Nabi has reiterated his desire to ‘put on a good show’ for the supporters to enjoy and shared the secret to his team’s productivity in front of goal this term. They’ve scored 65 times in 30 matches, 17 more than any other side in the division. This revelation will be particularly pleasing for Kaizer Chiefs fans, who always demand entertaining, attack-minded football. The Glamour Boys only scored 25 times in 30 DStv Prem matches in 2023-2024. That’s an abysmal record that needs to change. Despite their free-scoring ways, FAR missed out on the league title by a single point on the final day of the season.

Nabi to help the club cut costs?

Top earners Keagan Dolly, Itumeleng Khune, Zitha Kwinika, Ashley du Preez and Yusuf Maart could all hypothetically leave Naturena this winter in a massive clearout. Legendary ‘keeper Khune isn’t extending his contract, Dolly’s injury problems are mounting and Kwinika won’t have a guaranteed place in the starting XI with Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe now the preferred combination in the centre of defence. Meanwhile, talk of a R20 Million move to Portual for Du Preez gathers pace and Yusuf Maart is replaceable in central midfield. It would be difficult to justify keeping any of these players while their wages continue to suffocate the club’s balance sheet. Between them, this quintet earn R2.85 million a month.
