According to reports from Soccer Laduma, two clubs have approached Black Leopards striker Tiklas Thutlwa. One of those clubs is Kaizer Chiefs.

Black Leopards, languishing in 16th place in the NFD, are adamant that they don’t want to sell the player.

Do any Kaizer Chiefs players make our combined Soweto Derby XI?

Thutlwa was the Motsepe Foundation Championship’s top scorer last season with 16 goals. A number of DStv Prem sides have beenw atching his progess too. According to Soccer Laduma’s sources, the Glamour Boys made an offer for the player in December and again in the January transfer window.

Leopards chairman David Thidiela reportedly flat-out refused Amakhosi’s offer in the region of R3 million.

Leopards chairman wasn’t willing to let Thutlwa go

“The first offer was from Kaizer Chiefs in December during the World Cup break and it was R3 million but the Chairman turned it down. And both Chiefs and then Stellenbosch FC offered R4 million in January just before the transfer window closed and he also turned them down,” a source revealed to Soccer Laduma.

Leopards rejected all offers for Thutlwa due to fears of relegation. Lidoda Duvha are currently stranded rock-bottom of the NFD with 13 points after 18 games.

“He (Thidiela) said that with the position that the team is in right now he won’t allow any player to leave. He said he wants every player to help the team survive in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and maybe he can reconsider those offers but its not guranteed that he will let him go.

“The other reason is that the team invested a lot in Thutlwa when he was injured towards the end of last season and that’s why he started playing late this season and they feel they did that because they need him and not to sell him to another team,” the source added.

So, Chiefs fans, should the club intensify its pursuit of this player?
