Royal AM slapped with R4 million fine by the PSL!

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has finally handed down a judgment in the matter involving Royal AM and the league.

The PSL confirmed on Tuesday that Royal AM had been slapped with a R4 million fine for not taking part in the relegation/promotion play-offs.

For their defiance, Royal AM were fined R1 million for each playoff match they didn’t play, but R700 000 (a total of R2.8 million) has been suspended for a period of two years.

This means an amount of R1.2 million will be payable immediately.

Furthermore, Royal AM were sanctioned 12 points – three each for the matches they didn’t play in the playoffs for the current campaign.

However, that sanction is suspended for a period of 12 months provided they DO NOT fail to honour any of their NSL fixtures during that period.

Lastly, Royal AM were ordered to pay all the costs of the sittings in the four matters.

PSL STATEMENT IN FULL

  1. All four matches which it was obliged to participate in but failed to do were awarded to their opponents with a 3:0 goal difference.
  2. Royal AM was fined the maximum fine in terms of the NSL Rules, being R1 million per match (total R4 million) with R700 000.00 of each fine (total R2.8 million) being suspended for two years on condition that, during the period of suspension it did not fail to honour any NSL fixtures.
  3. The club was further sanctioned with a deduction of 3 points for each game not played (12 points in total) for the current season. This deduction as also suspended for one year on condition that, during the period of suspension it did not fail to honour any NSL fixtures and
  4. Royal AM FC was ordered to pay all the costs of the sittings in the four matters.
