Nurkovic’s Chiefs contract is coming to an end in June, and it increasingly seemed likely that he was going to leave the club then. The Serbian striker has struggled for game time, while he missed large parts of the season due to a long-term injury, and has not offered much on attack when has been able to play.

According to KickOff.com, Amakhosi proposed an extension of up to May 31 to make the decision on whether to exercise the option or not over his contract, but that was ultimately turned down by Nurkovic.

With contract talks dragging on, and injury niggles impacting his playing time, he has now reportedly decided to join ambitious Shauwn ‘MaMkhize‘ Mkhize’s Royal AM.

The lucrative transfer is said to be on a two-year deal with a further option of an additional year, with the striker set to make the move once he he has seen out the remainder of his contract with Chiefs through to the end of the season.

However, in another serious twist, Nurkovic’s agent first denied these rumours, while Royal AM CEO Sinky Mnisi has now weighed in.

“Well, I am the one who signs players at Royal AM. However, I know nothing about this,” Mnisi told GOAL.

Signs have suggested for some time that Nurkovic and Chiefs were going to part ways

Previously, as also reported by KickOff, quoting a source close to the situation, Chiefs asked for an extension on the deadline they set for Nurkovic’s contract, but failed to reach that agreement with the Serbian’s representatives.

“Though Chiefs have already made up their minds on other players that they are either keeping or releasing they are undecided on Samir which is why they have requested for an extension,” a source tells KickOff.

“It is rather awkward because that March 31 date was put by them, and this extension request will only suit them and not the player.

“What if they still don’t take up the option after that extension? That will leave the player in a difficult situation with lesser time to find another club.”

The situation has vastly differed from Nurkovic’s impressive first season with Chiefs, which saw him score 14 goals and earn an improved contract.
