Mamelodi Sundowns‘ newly signed goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has spoken after making his debut in which he kept a clean sheet against Cape Town City on Friday.

The last season’s treble winners beat the Citizens 2-0 in an action-packed clash.

Thanks to a solid defence in front of him, Williams wasn’t that busy on the evening, but was forced to make one terrific save in the second half.

‘IT WAS AMAZING’ – WILLIAMS

“It felt amazing you know, always key to get the first game out the way and on a positive note as well, and to start with a clean sheet that was the objective of the team,” Williams said.

“So I’m glad that I started with a clean sheet, this is for all the goalkeepers in the department, it was amazing. The crowd was amazing, the atmosphere and the team as a whole – what a top performance. And ya, now I can say I’m part of the family now.”

“We defended well, they didn’t cause too many problems so, the one time they did break our lines it was time for me to step up, so I’m glad I could play my part and I mean having to make one save against such a good team shows how good we were defensively, a good start to the season.
